The funny story John told for Adela

It is Monday evening.  The Curate and his wife, along with Dr. Henry Armstrong, arrive for dinner at the Colonel's house.  The Bloomfields have also been invited, and are joined by Percy and his mother, the Colonel and Adela, and lastly by John.

After dinner they gather around the fire and John offers to read a story that he has written.  Adela is delighted and asks him to go ahead.  It is a fairy tale about a princess who has lost her sense of gravity, in more ways than one.  She has to hold onto rocks or people when she walks or the wind will just blow her away.  She cannot be serious either, and thinks life is very funny.

The reason the princess has lost her sense of gravity is because her aunt, who is called Princess Makemnoit, has put a curse on her.  The reason her aunt did this is because she was angry that her brother the king forgot to send her an invitation to his daughter's christening.

As a result Princess Makemnoit came to the christening univited and put a curse on the princess so that she would not have any gravity.  I wish I could remember the name of the princess with no gravity, it would make it easier to tell the story.  Maybe tomorrow I will remember her name.
