Part of John's plan to revive Adela is to have her see a doctor, but her father the Colonel has already called the town doctor to see her, and it has not really helped at all.  As they are sitting in the drawing room, Mr. Bloomfield happens to mention the new doctor who has come to their town.  It turns out that the new doctor is the younger brother of the new Curate.  The new doctor's name is Dr. Armstrong.
