It is the story of an old bachelor named Peter who was born on Christmas day. Every Christmas day, and at other times too, he gives gifts to his family and even to strangers. Peter does this because giving gifts makes him ridiculously happy, and because he was born on Christmas day. He is a happy man, whose ambition is to do good.
One day Peter encounters a street urchin in such grim circumstances that he adopts her as his own child. Her name happens to be 'Little Christmas.' She was named 'Little Christmas' because she too was born on Christmas day.
One day Chrissy (Little Christmas) disappears. Peter and his nephew search everywhere for her, but with no success. This breaks Peter's heart, and he becomes very ill.
When Chrissy reappears on Christmas Day, Peter is overjoyed. (apparently she was kidnapped) She grows up without any more misadventures, and marries Peter's nephew.
