Chrissy's Abduction

The story of Little Christmas is not complete without accounting for her abduction, so here is that part of the story. Chrissy tells it to Peter and his nephew after she is safely home again and they are sitting together having tea.

She was coming out of school and going home when a strange man and woman came over to her and dragged her off. They stole Chrissy's nice clothes and locked her in a little room. They sold the clothes for money to buy alchohol, and when it was gone, they didn't know what to do with Chrissy, so they got her a job as a servant in an institution for homeless children.

She was not mistreated there, but no one listened to her story of being abducted because they thought she was lying. There was, however, a little boy who believed her and who gave her a key to the gate so she could get home. She made her escape on Christmas Eve, and found her way home on Christmas day.

As Chrissy finishes her story, Peter and his nephew are wiping away their tears. Peter soon cheers them up by announcing he has ordered a carriage for the day and they can go anywhere they like for Christmas. Chrissy asks to go visit the place where she had been kept as a servant, so they go there and see the little boy who helped her.

The boy is overjoyed to see that Chrissy has gotten home, and the lady who runs the place finally believes Chrissy's story. They thank the lady who runs the place for doing her best, and bring back Christmas gifts for the boy. Peter also buys him a gold watch for when he starts school. Now you have the whole story.
