Adela Catches a Cold

Sometime during the reading of the ballad and the short story, Adela begins to catch a cold. Her Aunt, Percy's mother, says this proves the story club is no good for Adela. She even persuades the Colonel to call Adela's old doctor instead of Harry.

Adela is not pleased with her aunt's meddling. She dismisses the old doctor and sends a note to Harry, asking him to come. The Colonel acknowledges that it was wrong of him to call the old doctor. Harry prescribes some medicine and says that no one but the Colonel and Adela's maid should visit Adela. Percy's mother leaves the room.
