The Wicked Giant

The friends have just finished hearing Lizzie's story about Little Christmas. The Colonel remarks that it is his favorite story so far, but Percy's mother thinks it is too good to be true. She says the main character, Peter, is too good.

Now John offers to read a children's story for the next gathering, if Adela will gather some children to listen to it. Adela agrees and the next week they gather with several children for John's story.

His story is about a wicked giant who eats children and whose heart is located in the nest of a far-off eagle. Two children bravely go to find the giant's heart, and carry it down from from the eagle's nest, with the help of various woodland creatures. The children try to use the giant's heart to get him to reform, but to no avail, and the giant comes to a tragic end.

Some of the children like this story, but others are not very impressed.
